Navarra Wines
The control
The Consejo Regulador is the Control Board for Navarra wines. It is composed of representatives which include winegrowers, winemakers, wholesalers and government officials. It is the
controlling body of the Denominación de Origen Navarra. It controls grape production, winemaking and wine ageing and supports trade in Navarra wines.
Quality control
From the moment of fermentation, the Consejo controls every wine throughout all the processes it undergoes, taking such measures as it deems necessary to guarantee the quality of Navarra wines.
Wine which qualifies as quality wine is accepted as being apt for the Navarra Designation of Origin and becomes subject to all regulations applicable to Navarra Wines.
Vintages are controlled individually and subjected to regular tastings by the Qualifying Committee until bottling.
161,625 hectolitres of wine were exported in 2007, mainly to European markets. Click here to learn more about Navarra wine exports
