The Rivero Family has been linked to the world of wine for more than a hundred years. However, it was not until the 1940s, when Amador Rivero, father of the current owners, Agapito and Jesús Rivero, began to grow grapes and make wines in a more professional way at FAUSTINO RIVERO ULECIA, their winery in Arnedo (La Rioja). In view of limited growth possibilities and grape availability in Arnedo, in 2003 decided to build a new bodega: HACIENDA Y VIÑEDOS MARQUÉS DEL ATRIO, S.L. in Mendavia.
In addition to making Rioja wines, the Rivero family has been making D.O. Navarra wines in Corella (Navarre) since 1988 and D.O. Utiel-Requena wines in Requena (Valencia) since 1997.
In order to meet market demand for table and varietal wines, the family began to make Vinos de la Tierra in 2001 and in 2007, the family took yet another step by starting to sell Cava sparkling wines, taking advantage of the prevailing expansion of the wine sector.
