Pedro Lizarraga has 22 hectares of magnificent vines that are over 20 years old in the most north-western part of Navarre, in a beautiful valley protected by the Sierra de Urbasa and the Sierra de Andia: the Yerri Valley.
The valley’s cold climate results in slow grape ripening, producing elegant, modern wines known as ‘mountain wines’ because of their freshness, balance and good acidity.
The bodega was built in concrete and partially buried in the ground so that it would maintain optimal temperature for winemaking and ageing. It is designed to work with gravity from the moment that the grapes arrive at Tandem. The wines are made in stainless steel tanks, without pumping (pumpovers). During fermentation, only pigeages (cap punching) operations are carried out. After fermentation, the wines are decanted through gravity to concrete tanks. After malolactic fermentation and blending, they are put in French oak barrels using gravity.
