Bodegas de la Casa de Lúculo began its project in 2004, making Garnacha wines in Navarre’s Baja Montaña district. Here, their first wine was born, “Jardín de Lúculo”. Its philosophy is to maintain the originality of the vines in a climate that is strongly curbed by a Pyrenean influence and providing it just the right amount of ageing in oak barrels to maintain the personality of the grapes and provide the ensemble with complexity.
In 2006, they linked the project to the winery in Mendigorría, an old co-operative bodega that has been restored and renewed to turn it into a small bodega with modern facilities and a traditional aspect. They have their own vineyards in Mendigorría, a traditional winemaking area, planted with Navarre’s “new” grape varieties —Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
They only make wines with grapes from their own vineyards, painstakingly tended to produce berries that will express the quality of the terroir.
